Sunset in the bus

You cant beat a nice sunset can you?!

After taking Arnie out along Gosport to Lee on solent to pick up a cool deck chair that I won on ebay I decided to pop in the KFC drive thru at north harbour, then I headed to Port Solent where I parked up and enjoyed dinner whilst watching the sun set next to Portchester Castle.

We have not been anywhere exciting lately so I thought id share a few new photos with you all from this weekend, we popped down Eastney on Saturday morning for a bacon roll and met up with my dad and nephew in my dads bus, saw a few other buses out and about this weekend now that the summer is getting here.

Also is anyone else going to the Apex Festival next month?

Rubbish EMPI exhaust

The sun was out again last weekend!

So I jumped in Arnie, fired him up to what sounded like a a Spitfire engine lol, it was so loud! so out I jumped to investigate the noise and found a very large hole in my EMPI quiet pack exhaust which was only just over 2 years old and extremely rusty, I wasn't very pleased I can tell you.

Lucky I had a spare silencer hanging around my garage so after quickly changing it out in the sun I was off to pick Grace up. After getting her we took a drive along to the spinnaker cafe at old Portsmouth where I had a home made burger which was lovely then we headed along to the Tenth hole in Eastney for a huge slice of cake! I fully recommend visiting both these places if your out down that way, both are excellent in my opinion.

After stuffing our faces at the tenth hole we popped up to Canoe lake to have a kick around in the sun for an hour or so. All in all it was a fun day, and I recommend visiting the spinnaker cafe and the tenth hole and I would avoid buying an EMPI quiet pack exhaust for your camper :)

The sun is finally out!

I cant believe the sun was finally out today!

It seems like months since we last had a sunny day so I took a break from welding my splitscreen bus and took Arnie for a drive along Southsea seafront and stopped off for a cheeky burger and chips just along from South Parade Pier. I sat next to the burger stall and stuffed my face whilst looking over the Solent and South Parade Pier which looks like it needs knocking down lol, its in a terrible state.

Freezing cold Volksworld show 2013

We ventured up to Sandown park on Sunday for the 2013 Volksworld show, I always look forward to this weekend as its the beginning of the show season, unfortunately the weather was freezing with a little snow , it was still  packed as usual with some lovely cars on display.

Grace loved having her photo took in the real Herbie for his 50th birthday this year, I only took a few photos and here they are.

Dash Tidy for Arnie

I finally gave in and brought a dash tidy for Arnie, I was fed up having no where to put my drink and stuff whilst on long journeys and this is ideal!

It only took about 40 mins to fit overall and I really recommend it. The hardest part was removing the pin from the hand brake handle but a few hard whacks with a hammer and it came loose.

All I need to do now it clean the dust off and tidy up the radio wires then it's all finished

Recycled hubcap clock

I found graces broken spongebob clock whilst cleaning her room the other day and the thought popped into my head about using the clock movement and putting it in one of our old hubcaps at work, so the next day I drilled a hole in the centre of the hubcap and stuck the movement through and ended up with a super cool clock :)

I may make a few more with the rusty hubcaps and see what they look like on the wall :)

2nd drive of the year :)

On Sunday we made the most of the nice weather and popped down to Eastney to chill on the beach of a while, there's nothing better than having a nice cold drink with your feet up looking out at the sea! On the way there we passed to other green VW camper and gave them a wave.

When grace got bored we popped up to Portsdown hill to have a kick around for a bit whilst looking over the city, next time I will be more organised and take some lunch with us and chill for a bit longer. We saw a blue and a white beetle flying along across the top of the hill but I was to slow to catch them up. 

I hope next weekend is just as nice so I can enjoy the green machine once again :)

1st drive of 2013

We took Arnie out for his first drive of the year yesterday, Grace was outside getting excited when I went to pick her up as she saw Arnie driving up the road, she was more excited to see him than me lol.

We took him for a little spin along Southsea seafront then we headed up to portsdown hill then along to Bedhampton to go bowling. The green machine drove lovely with no problems at all, I still have to give him his service that I always do at the beginning of the year.
We are looking forward to more days out in him this year.

Arnie's new home for a while

I parked Arnie up in his new home today, now I got some dry storage so I can replace the roof vent and fit a new passenger door. I'm looking forward to the show season to start, can't wait to get out and about in the green machine again.
