Camp Bestival recovery sessions

What a great few days I had at Camp Bestival this weekend just gone!
Its set in and around the beautiful location of Lulworth Castle and is aimed at families of all ages.

I'm still recovering now, I hit the rum and red bull a bit too hard on the first night but had a wicked time dancing in the Confetti wedding disco next to the Inflatable Church, I didn't get married but you never know what will happen next time ;)
After that we went to see the end of the Cuban Brothers set then off to the Bollywood tent for some dance music.

Saturday morning I woke up with a mega hangover and sun burnt shoulders! The rest of the day I was laid out like a zombie catching some more sun before heading back down to see some more bands the hit the Bollywood tent again to see Jaguar Skills on the decks.

I would give Camp Bestival 5 stars as its a nice friendly festival

I'm now home drinking gallons of water trying to make myself fresh for work tomorrow :(

Camp Bestival 2012 preparations

Only a couple of days until I go to Camp Bestival 2012!

This will be my third one now and I cant wait, its a great music festival and its aimed at family's so great if you want to take your children to there first one as there's loads of entertainment to keep them occupied. I thought I best start packing my stuff and stocking up on the alcohol as the only downside to these things is how expensive the food and drink is.

I'm looking forward to seeing Rolf Harris, Jimmy Cliff and Rizzle kicks to name a few, oh and how can I forget to mention the crazy Cuban Brothers!
I'm sure over the weekend there will be some drunken posts so be warned ;)

Rum, Cider, Beer and Jagermeister all ready for the weekend

Southsea Castle

Southsea castle today

So with the rarely seen big ball of fire in the sky today we decided Southsea Castle was the destination in our green VW camper, I had not been in there since a school trip many many moons ago and with Grace having a strange obsession with castles it was an ideal choice.

We got to the entrance ready to pay and guess what?! its free! :)
Grace enjoyed looking around ask asking lots of questions and I enjoyed looking like a brainy dad and answering whilst secretly reading off the information boards. Its pretty amazing that its in great condition considering it was built for Henry VIII back in 1544.

Its a great place if you like history/castles/somewhere free, it has great views over the solent too, just make sure the sun is out as a lot of it is outside.

For more information click here ->Southsea Castle website

Also next to the castle is castle fields, most weekends they have something going on there, today was an arts and craft fair with the mad hatters tea party going on. It was pretty strange watching actors playing the parts and mingling with the public as they are trying to look at the stalls. Grace ended the day having her face painted by someone with a very clean late bay VW camper, there was also a nice Splitty selling sock monkeys ( I forgot to take a photo of both ).

Old Portsmouth

Today we went down to old Portsmouth for a drive, we managed to actually get out the bus in a rare break in the non stop rain we seem to be having lately.

We took a walk along the hot walls by the harbour mouth then we went down on the beach to watch the Isle of Wight ferries coming and going. Its a great place to go if you like boats as there's loads going in and out constantly

After that we jumped in Arnie and took a drive around spice island and stopped to look at the harbour and the Spinnaker tower.
